Saints are highly honored in the Orthodox Church. The saints followed our Lord Jesus Christ and lived by His example, and in return God blessed them with glorification and salvation. Therefore all pious Orthodox Christians glorify the saints, since God has made them in His very image and likeness and has allowed them to partake in His heavenly glory. The objective of every Orthodox Christian is to achieve sainthood, and therefore those who have achieved this blessed gift are honored and respected, and prayed to for help and guidance. |
