The Orthodox liturgical calendar consists of the Paschalion (moveable feasts) and the Menologion (immoveable feasts). The Orthodox typicon ensures that all the feastdays throughout the year fall into perfect harmony. The Orthodox Church has always followed the Julian calendar as part of its universal typicon, and it is only with this calendar that the Orthodox typicon can be followed without scandalous problems and inaccuracies. Therefore the following calendar will be according to the Julian (old) calendar, whereas the Gregorian (modern) dates will be provided in brackets. |
